Happy Four Month Birthday, Jackson!

So I am totally lame and am posting this about six weeks too late...boo. Better late than never?*

Jackson Edmond,

Happy Four Month Birthday! You are now 1/3 of a year old...holy cow! Stop growing so quickly, sweet boy.

At your four month well-child visit with the pediatrician you weighed 16 pounds 1 ounce and were 26 inches long! Your weight was in the 50-60 percentile and your height was in the 75th percentile. Wow! You were so happy and chatted with your doctor and all the nurses…that is until they surprised you with three shots. Poor baby! You didn’t cry for very long at all and were such a brave boy.  As far as clothes go you are wearing 3-6 month and 6 month onesies and 3-6 month and 6 month pants. Your jammies are 3-6 and 6 months as well. You have some adorable one-piece rompers that GiGi got for you in 6 month size that you could never really wear because the legs were too short! (sigh) So from now on we will always buy a few sizes up in one pieces for my long boy! You are still wearing size two diapers, but as soon as our few packages are gone, it’s into the threes for you!

Your favorite trick this month would have to be rolling, rolling, rolling! You have started flipping tummy to back and back to tummy ALL.THE.TIME! You use it as a means to move all over, and keeping you on a blanket is near impossible. You are belly laughing constantly, and I love the way you interact with Daddy and me! You always have smiles for Daddy when he comes in from working, and he loves to talk to you in a silly voice. You are also a drooling machine, and wearing a bib is usually part of your daily wardrobe. We are still watching for those teeth to make their appearance, but nothing yet!

Your biggest accomplishment this month is that you started sleeping in your own crib. One day after you turned four months and we returned from Thanksgiving at Pop and GiGi’s, Mommy and Daddy put you in your crib to sleep. You were getting too big for your Rock and Play and you looked a little uncomfortable. That same night we also started sleeping training with you so you could learn to fall asleep on your own in your crib. The first night it took about thirty minutes of you fussing and Mommy and Daddy checking on you at intervals before you fell asleep on your own. Then you slept so well that night…unfortunately I did not! I was up all night just staring at your bedroom door because I missed you. I spent a lot of time praying and the Lord eventually gave me a peace in knowing that He is watching over you even when I’m not right there with you. Now I sleep a lot better. After a few nights it got so much better for you too and you went to sleep without crying most of the time! Way to go, Jackson!!! We turn on your glow seahorse and give you a blankie and you fall asleep really quick. You also roll EVERYWHERE in your bed and we always find you in funny positions. I think you like it!

What's that?
You also got to try rice cereal this month, and you loved it! We were at Pop and GiGi’s house, so they got to be there, along with Mommy, Daddy, Aunt Leah, Uncle Nathan, and your great-Granny and Papa Michelsen! Everyone laughed at you and kept talking about what a good job you did. I think you were a little upset that we had kept that yumminess from you for so long.

Chub galore
You celebrated your first Thanksgiving this month, and we had a great time! You got to spend time with both families, and you especially loved watching all of your older cousins at Aunt Ruth and Uncle Nate’s house in Lawrence. Next year you will be running around and playing with them too!

You love riding in the Ergo carrier, chewing on any and every toy we give to you, and riding in the car. You amaze us each day and we love you more than words, sweet baby Jackson!

I can't believe how big he is getting...and those long legs! Looks like you might have a future basketball player in your midst. ;) I love that he is smiling and laughing more and more each day. Send me a video of that laugh soon. I miss that boy so much and can't wait to see him again.
